Winter-Spring 2005 Posts

5/24/2005 – Today I added some hiking pictures from McAfee’s Knob (one of the best views in Virginia). If you are interested in hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail, you will definitely want to consider hiking this part.

5/21/2005 – Added more pictures from around Blacksburg today! Also added a simple intro page to my VT filebox account.

5/20/2005 – Today, I updated the Gallery Generator to version 2.0. This version adds support for TIFF and Bitmap resizing. I also added some pictures from a day trip to Washington DC that were taken earlier in the month.

5/3/2005 – Released an updated version of the Gallery Generator (1.02) that fixed a couple bugs with the initial version. Also rebuilt the hiking pics gallery using the generator. The advantages to using this software are much smaller thumbnails (the file size dropped from 16k to 4k, even though I increased the resolution) and bigger pictures (increased width of photos to 700 pixels).

5/2/2005 – Today, I posted the latest project that I am working on, the Chronicgaming.com Gallery Generator. Version 1.0 is fully functional, but only has the capability to work with JPEG images at the moment. The next version will include support for more image formats.

4/13/2005 – Today is mainly a photo update, I added some new pics from hiking and walking over the past couple weeks. You can check them out here.

3/27/2005 – Happy Easter everyone! Just wanted to wish you all a good Holiday. Today I added some new desktops from the Spring Break trip to DC.

3/22/2005 – I’m lovin the warm weather again, definitely ready for Spring and Summer to be here. Today I added a new link to the project section detailing the work that I am doing on a blown out G4 that I got a while back. I originally thought about bringing it back to good health so I could say that I have a Mac… until I saw the prices of some of the components. This led me to the idea of sticking a PC motherboard inside this G4 case (after some heavy modifications of course). As I get some $$$ from work over the spring and summer, I will start making small mods until I have a working system. I’m not saying it will be easy, but it should be a lot of fun. I expect to finish this project before fall semester starts.

3/18/2005 – Got a bunch of pictures from Spring Break posted on the site today. Definitely was the best break ever, especially since I got to spend all of it with my sweetie (I’m very thankful for that!). I’m just getting back to work here at VT though, so I won’t have too much time to work on stuff here. Maybe an update every now and then. I still have plans to work on the C++ guide, so maybe that will get the most attention. It’s hard to tell with me though.

2/24/2005 – Added some desktop backgrounds earlier in the week, and also became a member of a pretty cool site called Caedes Desktop Backgrounds. I will post some stuff there from time to time, so if you want to check it out that would be greatly appricicated! I’m also doing more work on my C++ Guide too. I would welcome input and suggestions if you guys have any ideas that would make it better.

Sorry guys, I also added some ads to a few of the pages. I refuse to do any of those really intrusive ads, since I really just want some $$$ to help pay for the domain. Don’t panic, I’m only going to put them along the bottom of the pages or the bottom of the sidebars. For some reason, Google likes to stick Grateful Dead ads on this page. I honestly have no idea why… ;-)

2/20/2005 – Not much to this update, just added some pictures from the the weekend. Spring break is coming up in a couple weeks, so that should be a lot of fun. Definitely looking forward to that! :-)

2/15/2005 – I hate spammers. Yeah, if you are coming to this site because of some asshole who is using the sales@chronicgaming.com address, I’m sorry. I don’t know why these asses have to exist, especially since they don’t have the balls to use their own email addresses when sending out stuff. Nonetheless, I have found out some stuff about the domain that the emails point to, which can be checked out here. Once again, I have nothing to do with this asshole or the companies that he/she/it is spamming for. If I were you guys, I would boycott their products and tell other people to do the same. If you guys have any ideas on how to take these guys down, I’d welcome them. BTW, the name of the company is called AuruDesign. It is sad to think that a web design company has to resort to getting support from these spammers. That is all I’m going to say about that.

As for happier news, I’m sure you’ve seen the updates I’ve made to the site. Here are some other things that I am planning:

  • Desktop Backgrounds

  • More work on the C++ Guide
  • Perhaps some Internet Security Guides

2/12/2005 – Added some new pictures from our day trip to DC. It was definitely lots of fun!

2/10/2005 – Come on, you guys knew this was coming… Yet another re-design! I wanted to do another design for the site so I could get more working knowledge with CSS. I’m also using some PHP elements as well for shits and giggles. It will take me a long time to convert everything over to the new format, so please bear with me. Suggestions (except for ones telling me to stop doing redesigns…) are also welcome!

1/17/2005 – Happy (late) New Years’ to everyone who still reads the page. ;-) This break was definitely good, I got engaged a couple of weeks ago…but I haven’t told Louisa yet….ummm….hopefully she doesn’t check my page*. Anyway, Vegas was great… :-) And I went to Niagara Falls and the Bills / Steelers game in Buffalo. Good times. You can check out all the pics from Winter Break here.

* Apparently she does read the page, since she wrote that part… :-D
