January 18, 2011 - This morning we enjoyed breakfast at Panera bread, then went in search of birds. Tony identified several lakes that were known as good birding spots. We went both East Lake Tohopekaliga, and Lake Tohopekaliga. We saw a bunch of cool birds – including a bald eagle, osprey, sandhill cranes ( we also saw these guys along the side of the road) and… a snail kite!
After walking around we went to Boston’s Fish House. We split some clam chowder, and then had the broiled seafood combo platter with Cajun seasoning. We weren’t that impressed with the shrimp, but the cod, scallops, and clam strips were great (the fried haddock sandwiches looked pretty good too!). We tried the mac n’ cheese and baked beans (sweet and bacon-y) as sides; everything was great, and set us up well for the beginning of the drive back to SC.
