Restaurant Review: Murphy’s Taproom

Murphy’s Taproom seems like your average North American sports bar.  Wood floors, a bar on one side of the room, tv’s, etc.  Except this sports bar has some great draft beer, and really good pub food.  We tried a few draft beers – they have a great selection, and sampled the jack cheese sticks, kickin’ chicken rolls, fried dill pickle spears, and chicken parm pizza.  The jack cheese sticks were good, but almost too gooey (I know, I didn’t think it was possible either).  The chicken rolls were fantastic with just a hint of spice, and the fried pickles were also very good.  The star of the food was the chicken parm pizza – the chicken parm was fantastic, the sauce was very good, lots of cheese, and a great thin-but-not-NYC-thin crust.  As an added bonus, happy hour is until 6, with half off apps as well as beer specials.  Just in case you wanted an excuse to go early, grab a table, and watch a game.  As an aside, we’ve heard service can be spotty, but we didn’t have any problems.
