Restaurant Review: Brixx Pizza

Are you in the mood for a great pizza – thin crust, wood-fire grilled, well-seasoned tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and an assortment of other toppings? Oh, and maybe some sweet tea or a nice adult beverage to wash it down? If you answered “yes!” then head over to Brixx Pizza. It’s seriously some of the best pizza we’ve had (including slices in NYC), and was like a taste of home for these two Northerners.  On this trip we tried the pepperoni and mushroom, and the wild mushroom with tomato sauce rather than olive oil.  The pepperoni is pleasantly spicy, and the topping amount is generous.  However, the wild mushroom pizza was definitely more topping-heavy (in a good way) than the pepperoni and mushroom.  Next time we’d like to try the Bronx Bomber and the BBQ chicken.

My husband and I are recent NY transplants to the Charlotte area and really love Brixx. Our favorite is the Wild Mushroom (white w/arugula) and Rustica but still need to try more. We figure there are other good “NY Style” pizza parlors, any suggestions?

We don’t have too much experience in the Charlotte area, but we were also impressed with Sabatino’s – http://www.sabatinosnypizza.com/ – as a good New York style pizza place in downtown Charleston. Andolini’s – http://andolinis.com/ – seems to be a popular option as well, but we did not visit personally while we were living in SC.
